When National Geographic photographer James Balog inquired,"How can you shoot an image of climate change?" His focus was drawn to ice. Soon he had been asked to do a cover story on glaciers which became the well read and most widely used piece in the magazine over the last five decades. However, for Balog, that narrative marked the beginning of a far larger and longer-term project that could reach epic proportions.
