In a world of lights, the people of the City of Ember have flourished for generations. However, the once strong generator of Ember is failing and the wonderful lamps which light the city have started to flicker. Currently, two teenagers, in a race against the time, must hunt Ember before the lights go out indefinitely for clues which may unlock the ancient puzzle of the existence of the city.
