When Manny Singer's wife dies, his daughter Molly becomes withdrawn and mute. He hires sassy housekeeper Corrina Washington, that shows dad and daughter and also coaxes Molly a new means of life to help handle taking care of Molly. Manny and Corrina's friendship delights Molly and also enrages the other townspeople.
