After a terrible air disaster, survivor Max Klein emerges a changed man. Unable to connect to wife or even to his lifetime Laura, '' he feels god-like and invulnerable. He has since her baby died in the wreck that she and Max lived Max meet another survivor, Carla Rodrigo, who's racked with guilt and grief when psychologist Bill Perlman is unable to help Max.
