After John's absent father is struck with a stray bullet, then Primo takes it to verse the boy from the code of these streets--just one founded on honor and upheld by fear. An associate of the Bloods because age twelve--both in the film as well as in reality--the streets of Brooklyn has known. Primo must decide whether to leave it all behind as he attempts to become a better husband and daddy while John questions whether or not to enter into this life. At which the heat seems to encase all Establish during those newyork summer weeks, elegant plunges in to gang culture. Director Keith Miller observes the lifestyles of both these two men with a distance that is silent yet pointed , carefully eschewing worn clichés by its focus. Distinctions between fiction and real life remain intentionally ambiguous, allowing these two men's narrative to resonate beyond the roads, while they face the question of exactly what it means to be a guy.
