A little, tumultuous town in Texas obsesses over their senior high school football team. After Boobie Miles, the star tailback, is injured through the very first match of this summer season, all hope is lost, and the town's dormant problems start to flareup. It's left to coach Gary Gaines' inspirational capacities to hone from the other team members -- and, by proxy, town itself -- a sense of honor and selfrespect.

My dad beat in my head, son you don't win silver, son you lose GOLD!!! I played QB my entire football career and it landed me in college with a full ride. Well that full ride ended in 1 play in practice. I tore my A.C.L, M.C.L &my Patella. That to me was the worst day of my life.

I am glad and sad that we didn't take football that serious where I live. I played QB and led my football team deeper in the Playoffs then any team before or after. When we lost in the Simi finals, my mother asked me what is was crying for? I said we lost. She said next year.
