Gambler Nathan Detroit has few options for his big craps game's location. Needing $1,000 to cover a truck owner to host the game, Nathan bets Sky Masterson that Sky cannot get virtuous Sarah brownout on a date. In market for attracting people into her assignment, Sky negotiates a date with her despite some immunity. Meanwhile, the Adelaide, Nathan's longtime fiancée, wants him marry her and to go fictitious.
