A number of adolescents at a smalltown in Colorado concoct a July 4th prank predicated on when their friend ends up accidentally killed, a frightening legend which goes awry. However, the adolescents agree to keep their engagement a secret by the police, who continue to search. With the July 4th celebration coming up back, the teenagers realize they're being stalked by someone who intends on keeping the legend alive by murdering off them.
