John Carter is really actually just a war-weary, former military captain who's inexplicably transported to the mystical and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars) and reluctantly becomes embroiled in an epic battle. It's really a universe on the edge of collapse, and Carter rediscovers his humanity if he realizes Barsoom's survival and its own people rests on his hands .

kind of mindless, but that's Hollywood. who knew they speak English on Mars. Who knew they even referred themselves as Mars. Forget about a sequel this one bombed at the Box Office.
