Richard Harland, A novelist , meets Ellen Berent onto a train where they fall in love and are soon wed. Harland realises the insane jealousy of his wife might be the reason for the tragedies in his own life when tragedies take his handicapped young brother, then his unborn son from him. Still another shock expects them all, as the feelings eventually of Ellen become uncontrollable.
