In a post apocalyptic future, jaded cop Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) is preparing to retire. But his world is destroyed if a gang murders his own family as a way of retaliation, forcing a ravaged Max going to on the open road. Since he travels the outback's empty stretches of highway, he trips the bloodstained battlegrounds ruled by marauding bikers who prey violence.
