Genial, bumbling Monsieur Hulot loves his top-floor flat at a grimy corner of this city, also cannot fathom why his sister's family has moved into the suburbs. Their house is an nightmare, and Hulot simply visits for the sake of concealing his young nephew away. The sister of hulot, however, desires to acquire to her new way of life, and conspires to set him up with job and a wife.
