After his son Ned is drafted in the Army by the villainous Sergeant Major Peasy, Newyork trapper Tom Dobb becomes an unwilling participant in the Revolution. Tom attempts to locate his son, and ultimately becomes convinced he needs to take a stand and struggle for that freedom of the Colonies, along with the rebel Daisy McConnahay. As Tom destroys his change of heart, the events of the war unfold in grandeur.
