For the previous two decades, highschool security shield Ben was trying to reveal decorated APD detective James that he's more than only a junkie who's unworthy of James' sister. He thinks he's earned the esteem of the seasoned policeman and asks for his blessing to marry Angela, After Ben becomes taken into the academy. Knowing that a ride will reveal whether Ben has exactly what is needed to care for his sister, he is invited by James onto a shift built to scare the hell.
