Heinrich Harrer, mountaineer journeys without his family to head a trip in 1939 to the Himalayas. However, when World War II breaks out, the Harrer falls right into Allied forces' hands as a prisoner of war. He escapes with a detainee which that makes his way to Llaso, Tibet, where he matches with the Dalai Lamahis friendship eventually transforms his prognosis on life.
