New York City newspaper writer J.J. Hunsecker holds considerable influence on public opinion along with his Broadway pillar, but one thing that he can not control is his younger sister, Susan, who is in a connection with aspiring jazz guitarist Steve Dallas. Hunsecker recruits publicist Sidney Falco to discover a method to divide the couple and disproves of this romance.
