Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. Awesome Movie. It's depicted as a horror film but it was more of a supernatural suspense thriller, with a little horror mixed in. Madeline who plays "Gwen" the sister is great. Within in the first 30 minutes you immediately bond with the main characters and route for both to make it through this nightmare.

I’m not a horror movie person. I mean, I like them, but they’re not my favorite. However this movie, hands down, is one of the absolute best movies I’ve ever seen. The cinematography, the acting, the dialogue, backdrops, clothes, etc. it was all executed so well. This movie is A+.

It did a great job in setting a creepy tone & making you feel uneasy from start to finish. It definitely kept me on edge. It’s not a typical horror movie littered with jump scares. All of the actors did a phenomenal job especially Ethan Hawkes performance. From the atmosphere, to the acting, storyline/script, visuals, it was all great. It did a great job at making me feel like I was in that decade as well. Beautifully shot.

this movie was absolutely a 10/10 movie!! it was so gooood, creepy, and touching at the same time. The scenes with the phone calls every kid telling him how to escape where they had failed was so touching. The fight practice scene with robin was so cool and it had 3-4 jumpscares i screamed at 2 jumpscares even tho i knew it comes.

the kid actors in this are incredibly - some of the best acting I've seen from child actors in a long time. Incredible movie. Drags a bit in the middle but the ending is great.

To begin, this is a beautiful masterpiece of a movie, great tension in scenes, great characters, great music, and the best of all, Finn's and Gwen's relationship with the each other. I would suggest this movie for any horror-mystery movie watcher. Worth my time...

Ethan Hawke and the child actors really raised the film to a higher level, especially the sister knocked it out of the park. One point in the film I really didn't know whether she was getting beat up for real by her dad or whether it was acting, because that was some of the most realistic crying I have ever seen.

ok this movie was cool as f*$k. Scary, realistic, and just enough creepiness to keep you on the edge of your seat with a happy ending. Same era I grew up in so LOVED the music and I'm assuming that was Ethan Hawks behind that creepy ass mask? I never would have known.

For anyone on the fence, this movie was so good! It held my attention the entire way through and had amazing scares. The acting, especially from the main kid, was so good. It was also funny at times.

It’s a great movie. I totally recommend it for ppl who are wondering if it’s worth to watch. Well, if you were expecting extreme gore, i guess you don’t have to worry about it appearing. I’m a chicken so others probably feel different.

“The black phone” is highly recommended horror movie. Scary and touching at the same time. Jumpscare wasn’t bad at all and got no chill. Finally a movie that win me at both. The ending got me tears ?

Man, this was such a good movie. A bit of a genre bender in that it's far from a simple "horror" movie and has elements of thriller and even coming-of-age warm and fuzzy stuff. It'll definitely go down as a classic.

I’ve seen this year is so nostalgic I also love how it’s low key really funny and not super scary it gives me the same vibes that it gave me but more scary cuz it’s more realistic

RoboGarrett

it was absolutely fantastic! Nostalgia, friendship, a few amazing scares, intense stranger danger theme, a round story with no loose ends.

The siblings are the best and Ethan is absolutely terrifying. I hope the sister gets her own film dwelling more on her abilities. She’s fantastic. Overall, its a great watch.

Anytime a lowlife child predator gets what's coming to him, either Real or in a movie is Awesome if you ask me👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😊

Jamil Shabazz

This was not it. These children are like 11 years old, speaking like grown adults and arguing with police. Plot was hilariously predictable. And how on earth does a man in all black everything and black balloons kidnap children in a suburban neighborhood, in broad daylight?

I do not like this movie service anymore you guys said free y'all are full of horse manure that's the way I feel about this movie
