A collection of stories about the lives and loves of eight men at a Prisoner . Location shooting in the British portion of Germany adds believability. The main story is of Hasek (Redgrave) a Czech soldier that needs to keep his identity a secret by the Nazis, to achieve this he poses as a deceased English Officer and contrasts with the man's wife. They meet and choose to continue their lives. One other culprits' stories are shown.
