The film is set at the fictional Utah area of Santa Ynez, which is being terrorized by a mysterious coupe that looks out of nowhere and begins running down people. After the car reaches off the town's Sheriff (John Marley), it becomes the job of Captain Wade Parent (James Brolin) to halt the murderous driver.
