Former pool hustler"Fast Eddie" Felson determines he would like to come back to the match by carrying a student. He meets green although talented Vincent Lauria and proposes that a partnership. As they tour pool halls, Eddie teaches Vincent the suggestions of jealousy, but he develops frustrated with Vincent antics, leading to a debate and a falling out. Eddie so on crosses paths with Vincent as a competitor and occupies playing again.
