I think he unnecessarily risked the lives of his men. His partner Mac trained all the fellas not to fall for the sudden change in language as a trick, but to get fooled himself by the same thing was dumb and stupid and I am gonna check to see if that actually happened, I doubt it

Roger Bartlett the leader, Mr. X, was told by those 2 Gestapo Goons that if he escaped again he would be shot. So he was shot.
Most prisoners of war were resigned to kick back and sit out the war as the Luftwaffe did follow the rules of Geneva.
Roger, I thought was a bit foolish.

This escape took place in March of 1944. Of course none of these guys knew the end of the war in Europe was a year and 2 months away. If they did know, I wonder if they would have tried.
