Gilbert's fishing trip along with ray normally requires a terrifying turn once the hitchhiker they pick up turns out to become considered a sociopath on the run from the law. He's killed before, and he also lets the two realize that as soon as they are no longer useful, he will kill again. Both friends plot a getaway, but an eye which never closes when he cries, the hitch hiker's peculiar physical affliction, make it not possible for them to inform when they are able to make a break because of it.
