Due to the conventions of late Eisenhower-era America and madness of nyc and the noise, itinerant journalist Paul Kemp journeys to Puerto Rico's pristine island to compose a native San Juan paper run by the editor Lotterman that is downtrodden. Adopting the rum-soaked lifestyle of the overdue'50s version of Hemingway's'The Lost Generation','' Paul will become entangled with her fiancée , a businessman and an extremely attractive American woman. It is within this world which Kemp ultimately discovers his true voice as a writer and ethics for a guy.
