2013-06-07
4.1
The Square, a new film by Jehane Noujaim (Controlroom. Rafea: Solar Mama), talks about the hard realities faced day-to-day by people attempting to create Egypt's new democracy. Catapulting us in to the activity spread across 2011 and 2012, the film provides a kaleidoscopic experience of the struggle. Cairo's Tahrir Square is the heart and soul of the film, which follows a couple activists. Equipped with an abundance of social networking, enthusiasm, humor, music, worth, and obstinacy, they know that the path to democracy began with Hosni Mubarek's collapse. The struggle between the people and also the power of the country is playing outside.
