A railway official, Owen Legate concerns Dodson, Mississippi to close down much of their city's railroad (town's key income). Owen finds love Alva Starr, with Dodson's flirt and main attraction. Alva and Owen then decide to try to escape Alva's mum's (Hazel) clutches along with the town's sin.
