Predicated on a harrowing true story, after 15-year-old Alex revealed she had been homosexual to her Mormon parents, they feared so profoundly for her soul that they shot her from the Southern California home and laid her against her will in a conversion therapy home in Utah. Trapped for eight weeks using strangers, Alex faced horrible punishments and beatings that were designed to cure her homosexuality. After realizing that she would have to submit to their own rules as a way to survive, Alex was allowed to go to school, where she became friends with a boy friend that had been the president of this alliance. He helped Alex be in touch with an lawyer, who helped orchestrate her escape.

I feel that way a lot. I've tried to commit suicide, scared to come out because I'm scared that my parents won't love me. I just want to be loved for who I am
