The European war was just beginning to erupt across national boundaries. Johnny Jones, an American crime reporter discharged by his New York writer to put an original spin on the tired dispatches emanating from overseas, has a nose for a good narrative --that instantly leads him into the crime of fascism and Nazi Germany's layouts on European conquest. Jones drops in love -- walks into the midst of an assassination -- and -- perhaps maybe not entirely coincidentally in attempting to learn more about a peace effort.
