Two separate stories mesh - in the first, a music teacher, Maggie Andrews, begins dying of a heart disease and her son Nathan tries to find her yourself a pair of Christmas shoes until she expires. In lawyer Robert Layton, the next and his wife Kate are slowly drifting apart if Kate gets control for Maggie to the school choir and also the matter involves a mind during xmas.
