Police Squad! Is a television comedy series first broadcast in 1982, created by Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker, and starring Leslie Nielsen. A spoof of police procedurals featured Abrahams, Zucker and Zucker's usual sight-gags, word play and non sequiturs. While a parody of many television shows and movies, it bore a similarity to the late 1960s series Felony Squad, M Squad and the Lee Marvin cop show. Even though cancelled after just six episodes, the show spawned the Naked Gun film series that was prosperous. Television Guide ranked it 7 on their 2013 list of 60 demonstrates were"Cancelled too early".
