Since Napoleon Bonaparte rises to power in France, a Competition erupts between Armand and Gabriel, two lieutenants over a perceived insult, from the Army. For over a decade, they engage in a succession of amidst battles, including the invasion of Russia in 1812, and shifts in the societal and political systems of Europe.
